Entries
Sign up as a 2-man team in the sign-up book in the Pro Shop. If you wish to play and do not have a partner, there will be a place to sign up, in the sign-up book in the Pro shop. The Pro Shop will try to pair you with another golfer. An optional closest–to-pin contest will be available on both days.
Tees:
This event will be from the white tees. Those who are eligible for the black tees five (5) Òblack teeÓ handicap scores in the computer) may use them. The Pro Shop will make handicap adjustments for those players using the black tees.
Handicaps:
For all matches, all players play off the course handicap of the lowest handicap (adjusted for black tee players, if necessary) member of the foursome (who then plays scratch). That is, the course handicap of the player, adjusted if he is a black tee player, with the lowest handicap will be subtracted from the handicaps, corrected for black tees if necessary, of the other three players in the foursome. The difference in strokes will be assigned to holes based on the handicap rating for the course holes (i.e. handicap 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. for white or black tees depending on the player getting strokes). For example, if the handicaps, corrected for the black tees, for players in a foursome were 28, 23, 20, and 16, the 28 handicap player would receive 12 strokes, the player with the 23 handicap would receive 7 strokes, the player with the 20 handicap would receive 4 strokes, and the player with the 16 handicap would play from scratch. The strokes are given based on the course handicap for each hole, for each tee color. The official score cards made up by the Pro Shop for each match will have the handicap Òdots'Ó adjusted according to the rules noted above.
Lunch:
A box lunch will be delivered to you on the course on the first day of play.
You are on your own for lunch on second day of play, if you are staying to play in or watch the Shootout.
Special Conditions:
1. The Golf Professional and the Tournament Committee will organize the competition into flights and settle any rules question.
2. The competition shall be conducted using a shotgun start. Starting holes for each team to be determined by lot.
3. This event must be conducted in flights of 6 teams or 12 players. In other words, 4 flights of 48, 5 flights of 60, 6 flights of 72, or 7 flights of 84 are needed. If your team is just over any of those limits, you will not be able to play unless we are able to find additional players, SO SIGN UP EARLY.
4. One (1) team per hole will be eliminated during the Shootout. In a Òchip-offÓ, the team can designate their shooter.
Scoring and Scorecards:
1. Each player is responsible for verifying the accuracy of his handicap. The playerÕs handicap will be printed on the scorecard, but each player retains the responsibility for its accuracy.
2. Each team will keep the score of their competitors. Scores will be kept as gross scores (for handicap purposes) and the better net-ball score recorded for each hole and the points earned for that hole. There is one point per hole. If you win the hole you earn one point. If you halve the hole you earn 1/2 point. If you lose the hole you earn zero for that hole. There is one additional point awarded for winning the 9-hole match. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF POINTS FOR EACH MATCH IS 10. Example: Team CD won 5 holes and team AB won 3 holes and 1 hole was halved. Team AB earns 3 points plus 1/2 point for a total of 3-1/2. Team CD earns 5 points plus 1/2 point plus 1 additional point for winning the match, for a total of 6-1/2. Team CD totals are 6-1/2 points to 3-1/2 points for team AB, for a total of 10 points for the match.
3. For any hole where your next shot was conceded, you should record for that hole what you most likely would have had. Example: You lie 3 on the green 20 feet from the hole and the putt is conceded, your score for posting is 5 as you have would most likely 2 putted. Further, if player hits two balls in the water or out-of-bounds and concedes the hole, he should take his maximum ESC for that hole. For any holes not completed after the match is over, you post par plus any course handicap strokes you receive on those holes (i.e. your regular course handicap, not the match handicap). Example: Your match ends on hole 16, and for hole 17 you would receive a one-stroke course handicap based on your regular handicap, not the dots on the scorecard; therefore your score for hole 17 is recorded as 4. NINE (9)-HOLE scores should be posted for each match, as these are 9-hole matches. Be sure to indicate on which nine (front or back) the score was shot. These are NOT tournament scores.
4. If a player cannot finish the event after play has begun his partner will be permitted to complete the remaining matches as a single player. There will not be any substitutions.
5. After the completion of the match, each team will review the card with the scorer, attest to its accuracy, and turn the scorecard into the Pro Shop.
